The X-Quad antenna is a refinement of the well-known multi-element quads. Its special features, especially developed for amateur radio, are
- Switchable polarization plane (horizontal/vertical/circular right/circular left/diagonal)
- High gain compared to other antenna forms due to the stacking effect
- short boom length and compact design
- Mounting before or centered to the mast is possible
The radiator element is a stacked quad element, which for linear polarization can be compared to a crossed slotted radiator.
However, the advantage of the X-Quad is that it can be optimally used for the desired polarization by simply changing the feed:
compared to a cross-yagi, all secondary elements (directors, reflectors) are active in the X-Quad, which enables the compact design.
As with cross-yagis, switching is done either by a coaxial relay or our polarization remote switch directly at the antenna,
where only one feeder cable is required, or at the station using two feeder cables. The antenna can also be permanently set up for
circular operation by a phase line (see accessories). The secondary elements are arranged diagonally in relation to the radiating
element, which corresponds to the voltage distribution on the radiating element and shows the most favourable results.
When installed under a roof, the low influence of external fields - in comparison to Yagi antennas - must be emphasized.
All elements are electrically conductively connected with boom and cable outer sheath, thus eliminating interference from static charges.
The connection of the two supply cables is made via N-sockets, the housing is waterproof cast.
Boom and elements are made of aluminium, all screws are made of stainless steel.
Construction and design of the antennas are protected by law (DBGM). The antennas are designed for fore-mast mounting,
alternatively the mast clamp can be mounted in the middle of the boom tube. In this case, however, a glass fibre tube is
required as a rotating tube. Boom and elements are made of aluminium, all screws are made of stainless steel.

The antennas have a split boom, the transport length is therefore smaller. 75cm for the 2m antenna and 65cm for the 70cm X-Quad.
So the antenna can be stowed away comfortably in the trunk, the shipping costs are comparatively low.
